چکیده
The mining of valuable minerals from wastewater streams is attractive as it promotes a circular economy, beneficiation, and valorisation. To this end, the current study evaluated rapid removal aqueous Cr(VI) by polycationic/di-metallic Fe/Al (PDFe/Al) adsorbent recovered real acid mine drainage (AMD). Optimal conditions for were 50 mg/L initial Cr(VI), 3 g PDFe/Al, pH = 3, 180 min equilibration time temperature 45 °C. resulted in ≥95% maximum adsorption capacity Q 6.90 mg/g. Adsorption kinetics followed two-phase pseudo-first-order behaviour, i.e., fast (likely due to adsorption) slower secondary Cr(III) reduction on surface). More than 90% adsorbed could be after five adsorption–desorption cycles. A reaction mechanism involving onto at least two distinct surfaces situ reduction, well adsorption-induced internal surface strains consequent area magnification, was proposed. This demonstrated rapid, effective, economical application PDFe/Al bona fide AMD treat Cr(VI)-contaminated wastewater.

Removal of Basic Blue 159 from Aqueous Solution Using Banana Peel as a Low-Cost Adsorbent
In this paper, the adsorption of Basic Blue159 (BB159) onto banana peel as a low-cost material was studied. At first, the banana peel was sieved. Later, banana peel particles were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) techniques. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out as a fu...
متن کاملRemoval of Lead from Aquatic Solution Using Synthesized Iron Nanoparticles
Due to its ability in chemical oxidation of contaminants, iron nanoparticle is a material of choice to remove lead ions from aquatic solutions. In this study a reduction method in solution phase was applied to synthesize thenanoparticles. Afterwards, the size of the synthesized particles were confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy. It is worth noting that th...
متن کاملRemoval of Cationic Dyes from Aqueous Solution using Organomodified Nanoclay
In this work, organomodified nanoclay has been used as the adsorbent for the removal ofbasic blue 41, cationic dye from an aqueous solution. The performance of the organomodified nanoclay was tested in a batch system under varying pH (2–12), adsorbent dosage (0.1–2 g L-1), initial dye concentration (10–60 mgL-1), and contact time (5- 100 min). The best conditions were achieved at pH of 7,...
متن کاملremoval of glycolic acid from aqueous solution using bagasse flyash
present study deals with the adsorption of glycolic acid (ga) from aqueous solutions by using bagasse fly ash (bfa). bfa is a solid waste generated from bagasse fired boilers and can be used as an adsorbent. batch adsorption studies were carried out to evaluate the effect of various parameters like adsorbent dose, contact time, initial concentration and temperature on the removal of ga from aq...
متن کاملRemoval of Lead Ions from Aqueous Solution by Sorptive-Flotation Using Limestone and Oleic Acid
A simple, rapid and economic procedure was presented to remove lead(II) from aqueous solution under the optimized conditions. It is based on the sorption of Pb2+ ions from aqueous solutions onto limestone fines (LS), which is an inexpensive and widespread over the globe, followed by flotation with oleic acid (HOL) surfactant. The different parameters (namely: solution pH, sorbent...
